Podcast: Play in new window | Download (7.3MB)
Umm Ayman grew up in Abysynnia from very humble beginning and was sold into slavery and ended up in Makka. She was taken in by the parents of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Amina and Abdullah, who were newlyweds at the time. Shortly after the wedding, Abdullah passed away and it was Umm Ayman who comforted Amina. Umm Ayman was present at Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) birth and comforted Amina. Umm Ayman was instructed at the death of Amina to take care of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). She didn’t fail in doing so. She was one of the first people to accept Islam. In Madina she took care of the Muslims at the battle of Uhud.
