Seminar: How to Be A Better Spouse
In Islam, the Quran establishes marriage as a highly recommended act of worship, conveyed as a priority. In this seminar, Shaykh Irshaad Sedick and Shaykh Muhammad Carr explore the common causes of conflict and the tools needed to transform the union of marriage into a place of contentment and tranquillity. This seminar also discusses living with your spouse in a prophetic way, building homes where respect and character reign, and leading by example for your children.
Marriage: A Means To Bring You Closer To Allah Most High
In this seminar, Shaykh Irshaad Sedick reminds us that the best way to strengthen the marital relationship is by drawing closer to the Divine One. Learning how to love your spouse for the sake of Allah is the most essential step, because both you and your spouse are only human, and thus due to experience the fallibility of your mortality at some point. Neither of you will manage to keep lit the fleeting flame of youth, passion, and beauty.
Allah however, is the only constant, always loving, forgiving, healing and guiding His servants. Therefore, putting all your primary love, dedication and action towards pleasing Allah will reap you consistent benefits for your marriage.
Overcoming Financial Issues within Your Marriage
While it may not be wise to place excessive weight on wealth when deciding on a suitor to marry – for the character of a potential spouse is more enduring than their financial status – it remains irrefutable that financial struggles are the catalyst for the failure of a large number marriages, especially in light of the contemporary world we live in.
In this seminar, Shaykh Muhammad Carr provides beneficial advice regarding dealing with a dual-income household in a prophetic manner, and methods to tackle issues in this regard.
Strengthening Intimacy Between Spouses
Upon establishing marriage, affection and mercy are two forces that materialize and tie two individuals so intimately together, encouraging them to become supporters for one another regardless of the obstacles they face.
Shaykh Muhammad Carr explores the challenges that many spouses encounter relating to intimacy, and outlines methods of resolving them. He also points out the underlying spiritual benefits of permissible sexual relations.
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” [Quran 30:21]
Conclusion
To conclude, the journey of marriage is a journey in which joy and contentment are nurtured and experienced through teamwork. However in a world far from ideal, and with partners who are far from perfect, constantly maturing and learning, many struggles will naturally arise along the way. Our job as dutiful spouses, and servants to Allah Most High, is to put in the effort to rectify and purify our intentions and actions within our marriages to the best of our ability.
With the will and desire to follow the righteous path, one’s marriage can become a source of peace and protection from the challenges of the contemporary world.
