The Prophet’s Supplication upon Sighting the New Moon
Ramadan Mubarak
The Prophet’s dua (Allah bless him and give him peace) for when the new moon is seen:
عن طلحة بن عبيد الله رضي الله عنه قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذا رأى الهِلالَ قال: (اللَّهُمَّ أهلّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِاليُمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلاَمَةِ وَالإِسْلاَمِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ) رواه الترمذي وحسنه
Allahumma ahhilhu `alayna bil yumni wal imani wa salamati wal islam. Rabbi wa rabbukal Lah
(O Allah, bring it to us with felicity, faith, safety, and submission. [Addressing the new moon:] My Lord & Your Lord is Allah.”
