Over $252,000 Raised Through the Feed The Needy Online Fundraiser, but Its Not Over Says Imam Zaid Shakir

Earlier today,SeekersGuidance and Islamic Relief teamed up to raise funds to alleviate the suffering of malnourished people throughout the world. Alhamdulillah, thanks to you and your contributions, we were able to raise over $252,000 in just two hours. If you were unable to attend the event, we will be uploading pictures and videos soon, but please take a moment and make a donation to Islamic Relief for the noble cause of eliminating global hunger.

We would like to give special thanks to our wonderful scholars and speakers – Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick, Shaykh Muhammad Ninowy, Imam Tahir Anwar, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Preacher Moss, Hadia Mubarak, and Nura Sediqe. Imam Zaid’s Challenge: Donate $60 and Then Get 10 people to Donate in the Next 24 Hours

While the original goal of raising $50,000 was met with resounding success, the work is not done. During the closing remarks, Imam Zaid Shakir exhorted us not to remain content with reaching the goal, but to soar above and beyond it. He’s calling upon each and everyone one of  us to spread the word about the ills of malnourishment and wants each of you to find 10 people within the next 24 hours who can donate. To facilitate this, SeekersGuidance will give a free course for the Fall 2009 semester to anyone who donates over $500.
