Showing Disrespect to Qur’an or Hadith
Question: Is it disrespectful and thus forbidden to put files with verses of the Qur’an or hadith in the virtual “trash” on one’s computer?
Answer:
Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Dear questioner,
Thank you for your important question.
Showing disrespect to the Qur’an and hadith is forbidden and sinful. That said, what exactly is deemed disrespectful is not always clear and often has to be judged based on culture and social norms.
Given that the virtual “trash” is not actually dirty and is used for all sorts of files, I don’t think anyone would actually deem putting files with Qur’an or hadith in them disrespectful per se.
However, one should feel some level or dislike because it could be done in a more dignified way. Also, if one could change the image and name of the folder on the computer it would be far superior.
