Can I Help Build a Mosque during Menstruation?

Question

What is the ruling regarding a Muslim woman in her menses going to a Masjid construction site to help build? I know menstruating women are not allowed to enter the mosque’s prayer area. What if there is a lecture or class that can only be heard from inside the mosque? What should she do?

A mosque construction site is not yet a mosque, so it is permissible to join in on the construction. [Shaykh Faraz Rabbani]

If a lecture takes place in the mosque, one should first ask what part of the mosque is actually considered the prayer area. Usually, there are extra rooms in the back or side or on other levels that are not considered part of the prayer area.

If the lecture is in the prayer area, one can request that it be moved to an area of the mosque that is not considered part of the prayer area to accommodate the women. Masjid committees usually do recognize this need. May Allah Most High reward you profusely for involving yourself in the mosque and its activities.
