Will Allah Forgive All Our Sins Including Involvement in Pornography?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
My brother used to work as a pornstar but now he has repented and left pornography.
However, his videos are all over the internet and he cannot remove them. Will it be counted as a sin for him whenever someone watches his film after he repented or not?
Also, I am male, and yesterday I was involved in gay foreplay in which there was no penetration. Is this considered fornication or a lesser sin?
Answer
Thank you for your question. I understand that you and your brother have been wandering in the darkness, but nothing is more joyful to Allah than changing your condition. I encourage you to repent as your brother has.
Repentance
Allah Most High says: “Say: My servants who have wronged yourselves, never despair of God’s mercy. God forgives all sins: He is truly the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.” [Quran, 39:53]
There is not a single sin that Allah does not forgive, and I am very hopeful that Allah will accept your brother’s sincere repentance. As for the continuous viewing of his videos, he cannot remove them, so I encourage your brother to continuously give in charity to counter it, perhaps weekly, even if only a little. Tell him not to think about whether he is racking up sins every day but rather to focus on his sincere repentance, determining never to go back, learning his religion, and changing his circle of friends. A man is only responsible for what is under his control.
Avoid Steps Leading to Major Sins
As for your own situation, I highly encourage you to follow your brother’s steps in repentance and seek to live a religious lifestyle because it is a beautiful way to live. What you have described is not fornication, but it will lead to a major sin. I encourage you to stop now before any more damage takes place to your soul, mind, and body.
Fornication is a major sin, but despairing of Allah’s mercy is also a major sin, so please refrain from either.
Allah is waiting for you to repent and wants your utter devotion to Him so that He may reward you with everything you desire and more for all eternity. May Allah give you and your family the best in this world and the next.
