Does a completion of the Quran require that it be from the same Mushaf

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

The Quran linguistically means recitation. [Zabidi; Taj al-Arus] It was later written into codices (Mushaf) to facilitate learning and spreading.

For this reason, it is not a requirement to read from the same codices (Mushaf) for one’s completion to count. It is not a requirement to read from any text to do a completion. One can complete the Quran by reciting from memory, and it would count.

Many Companions (Allah be pleased with them) did not know how to read, yet they would recite the Quran from memory.
