Is It Permissible to Use a Bidet with the Right Hand?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi
Question
Is it permissible to use a bidet with the right hand if it does not directly touch the private parts, given that it provides better control and is positioned on the right side?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
I pray this finds you in the best of states.
Yes, it is permissible to use a bidet in order to clean yourself, regardless of the hand you are using, after relieving yourself. This is because it allows you to clean yourself with pure and purifying water. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]
Please remember to perform the actual cleaning (i.e., rubbing the filthy location) using the left hand, as it is disliked to use the right hand without excuse. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]
Allah (Most High) says: “Allah desires ease for you; He does not desire difficulty for you.” [Quran, 2:185]
And Allah knows best.
Wassalam
