How Can I Purify a Mop and a Floor?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi

Question

Water from the toilet splashed onto the floor during istinja, and I later mopped the entire bathroom with a wet mop. The floor is textured and absorbs water. Is my mop and floor impure, and how can I purify them?

Answer

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

I pray this finds you in the best of states.

The floor will become pure as soon as it dries. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]

The mop must be washed three times with water for it to be ritually pure again. [Ibid.]
