How Can I Get My Dua Answered the Way I Want It to Be Answered?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
I am a kid and have been given a sickness that horrendously destroyed my life. With magic, someone can control my mind. I have prayed for something for years but Allah truly has not paid attention to me during my difficulties, though I would like to believe He did.
I don’t want my dua answered in the Akhira, I want it answered now. A cataclysm was not prevented from hitting me. Allah knows He destroyed my life. I am too young for this appalling test and I have shown patience my whole life.
How can I get my dua answered the way I want it to be answered?
Answer
I am sorry that you are having so much trouble in your health and life. I empathize with you that it can’t be easy and that you feel your world is crumbling.
I feel that it’s important for you to get therapy or see a doctor. I don’t want you to endanger yourself or anyone else around you. Most of all, I want you to come back to a healthy mental and physical state. Please see someone as soon as possible.
In terms of your dua, I have to tell you honestly that Allah is your Lord and you are His servant. You must have tawakkul (trust) in Him and be certain that His decree is what is better for you. There is no dua for me to give you that will ensure the outcome you want. Rather Allah has always worked in mysterious ways, sometimes setting us up to gain strength for future problems or sending us problems now so that it may turn into a success later.
Think of Musa when he escaped from his city after killing someone, but ended up staying away for 8 or 10 years, starting a family and receiving revelation. At that time, he made this dua.
“My lord, I am in absolute need of any good You send me.” [Quran, 28:24]
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khairin faqir
Think of Ibrahim when he was asked to leave his family in the desert or when he was told to slaughter his son. The establishment of Allah’s house emerged from that trial. His dua was:
“God is enough for us: He is the best protector.” [Quran, 3:173]
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
HasbunaLlahu wa ni‘ma-l-wakeel
You mention magic in your question. The best weapon against any kind of magic is learning your personally obligatory knowledge and applying it.
Pray five times a day, pay your zakat on time, and only eat the halal. Read some Quran every day with the meaning. Also, keep the company of religious family and friends around you. You may also want to try naturopathy and homeopathy. This can help tremendously with issues of the mind and body.
May Allah give you the best and reverse your situation, and may He strengthen you through this.
