Can a Sayyid Marry a Non-Sayyid Lady?
Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat
Question
If a sayyid man and a non-sayyid woman fall in love, is it possible for them to get married, if the woman’s guardian allows it?
Answer
I pray you are well.
Bismillah.
Yes, it is permissible for a sayyid man to marry a non-sayyid lady, just like it would be permissible for a non-sayyid man to marry a sayyida, with the consent of her guardian. (Maydani, Lubab)
Keep your blessed ancestor, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), in mind whenever you interact with her, her family, and your future children, insha’Allah. Always show them the best of conduct because of him (Allah bless him and give him peace), and you’ll benefit in many ways from this marriage.
May Allah facilitate all that is good for you both.
