Is it Fine to Say Quran has Numerical Miracles?
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is it okay to say Quran has numerical miracles?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
The Quran is full of miracles. Its wonders will never end. It is mentioned as part of a lengthy hadith, “The secrets and treasures of the Quran are never ending” [Tirmidhi; Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba; Ahmad]. Scientifical and Numerical miracles are observations and secondary to what we should believe about the Quran. This is why some have written in criticism of it.
The purpose of the Quran is threefold, recite and ponder, follow and spread the message to all. Numerical miracles are just one example out of many miracles in the Quran. One has to remember in all of this that the actual call is to guidance:
Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most suitable [Quran, 17:9]
Guidance for those conscious of Allah [Quran, 2:2]
As guidance and good tidings for the believers [Quran, 27:2]
As guidance and mercy for the doers of good [Quran, 31:3]
As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding [Quran, 40:54]
