Does saying “whoever takes a second wife becomes troubled” blasphemy?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.

No. Saying that one will become troubled if they take a second wife is not blasphemy.

This may be true for certain people and does not necessarily imply a rejection of the permissibility of polygyny or that for some people with righteous intentions; polygyny may be religiously or socially advantageous.

To deny the permissibility of polygyny itself, regardless of the circumstances, or to deem it an absolutely blameworthy action is indeed a sinful belief and may have implications on one’s faith.

This would depend on one’s intention for saying what they said. And the door of repentance is always open.
