What Should I Do after Bleeding from a Vaginal Lip?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi
Question
Do you have to do Istinja if you bleed from your vaginal lips?
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
I pray this finds you in the best of states.
After bleeding from a vaginal lip you simply need to wash the area and to renew your wudu. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]
The reason for this ruling is that blood that has exited your body is filthy. Thus you need to wash it before praying. Blood exiting your body has also broken your wudu. You need to renew it before being allowed to pray. [Ibid]
Allah, Most High, says: “O believers! When you rise up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of (full) impurity, then take a full bath. But if you are ill, on a journey, or have relieved yourselves, or have been intimate with your wives and cannot find water, then purify yourselves with clean earth by wiping your faces and hands.” [Quan, 5:6]
And Allah knows best.
Wassalam
