What Dua Can You Suggest For My Period to Come?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Abdullah Anik Misra
Question
I haven’t gotten my period for the past two months, and I am very worried. Can you suggest any dua which I can recite, please?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
May Allah Most High give you the best in health and states and relieve your worries. I would first advise that you consult a medical expert for your concerns.
I have not found a specific dua (supplication) that addresses this matter exactly, especially from the Quran and Sunna. You may want to personally consult a scholar authorized in Islamic spirituality to see if they have a recommended formula of Quranic verses or dhikr for this.
I have seen a scholarly suggestion of reading Surah al-Fatiha seven times in the early morning, blowing it into water, and drinking it. Other resources online will suggest different formulas as well; there is no one set thing I have found, and you are free to say any of them.
Remember that the most effective thing is to lift up your hands and speak to Allah from the heart in your own language, asking Him and expressing your neediness to Him.
A General Dua for Well-Being
The Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) instructed us to ask Allah Most High for well-being (‘afiya) in this world and the next world after we hear the call to prayer (adhan). This shows that seeking well-being, in general, is an important thing to ask Allah for all the time, as it encompasses one’s spirituality but also one’s health, mental stability, freedom from problems, and much more. One dua from the Sunna is available to read here:
