Question: Assalam alaykum

Is it permissible to use a product containing snail slime?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Yes, it is permissible to use a product containing snail slime externally on the body because such a substance is not considered to be ritually filthy. But this doesn’t negate the impermissibility of consuming snails as they are from the foul things (khaba’ith) which are not eaten.

Allah Most High says, “He commands them to do good and forbids them from evil, permits for them what is lawful and forbids to them what is impure.” [7:157]
