Is The Wax Used in Salons Pure?

Hanafi Fiqh

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

When I go to the salon to wax my arms, do my hands become impure after applying the wax from the machine, which is used for all the clients, even the clients that get their private parts waxed?

I’m 100% sure because they have only one machine to heat the wax, and they use the same spatula to apply wax on everyone. Does it render the wax impure in the machine used to heat it? Also, whenever the wax strip is snatched off, sometimes, it feels like there is some kind of discharge from the vagina; whether it’s urine or normal discharge, I don’t know.

After that, they apply oil on the body, which doesn’t completely get off even after washing. What should I do?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health.

Your hands and arms will not get impure; neither will it render the wax in the machine used to heat the wax impure. The oil used will also be clean as the area is pure and clean. Just ensure they use a fresh spatula when you have a booking with them. Do not worry. You are suffering from doubts and misgivings.
