Is It Permissible to Work as a Tutor in Saudi Arabia on a Family Visit Visa?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
Is it permissible to work as a tuition teacher in Saudi Arabia on a family visit visa, considering it is not legally allowed, but the income is essential for supporting family expenses?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.
Your income would not be impermissible in this case as long as your work is permissible. However, you will be going against the law of the country. This would be disliked.
If one enters a country with a specific visa type, one must abide by the terms. As we are called upon to fulfill our agreements as the command of the Quran:
“Honour (your) pledges, for you will surely be accountable for them.” [Quran, 17:34]
This is the basic ruling concerning the issue, although it should be mentioned that this ruling may vary depending on one’s individual circumstances and needs.
