Is It Permissible for a Man to Wear a Ring Made of Tungsten?
Hanafi Fiqh

Question: Asalamu alaikum,
Is it permissible for a man to wear a ring made of tungsten?
Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray that this message finds you well, insha’Allah.
Wearing other than a silver ring for men is impermissible according to the Hanafi school. [Haskafi, al-Durr al-Mukhtar; Nahlawi, al-Durar al-Mubaha fi al-Hazr wa al-Ibaha]
This is because when the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) was asked from which material a ring should be made, he responded, “make it from silver” [Abu Dawud; Tirmidhi], indicating the impermissibility of wearing other than it. In another tradition (hadith) found in Tabarani’s Awsat, he prohibited wearing a ring of gold or iron. For further traditions and discussion, please see I`la’ al-Sunan.
However, according to the Shafi`i school, wearing a tungsten ring would be permitted without dislike as affirmed by Shaykh Amjad Rashid, the masterful Shafi`i jurist in Amman. [Bajuri, Hashiyat al-Bajuri `ala Sharh al-Ghazzi]
And Allah alone gives success.
