Does the Wetness Present on My Retainer Invalidate My Fast?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi
Question
Do I need to make up fasts for wearing a wet retainer after Fajr during Ramadan, and should I assume it applies to the entire month?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
I pray this finds you in the best of states.
You will have to repeat the fasts in which you were sure that you swallowed the wetness that was present on the retainer. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]
Please remember that the wetness remaining inside your mouth after washing it and spitting out the water is excused. Thus, if you spat out the water present in your mouth after putting on the retainer, you can assume that your fasts were valid.
Indeed, swallowing the wetness that remains in one’s mouth after washing it for wudu or ghusl does not break the fast.

And Allah knows best.
