Does Discovering Madhi (pre-seminal fluid) Invalidate My Previous Prayers?

Question

I saw madhi (pre-seminal fluid) hours after Isha and felt something around Dhuhr but ignored it. Should I repeat the prayers from Dhuhr to Isha, and how should I do it?

Answer

I pray this finds you in the best of states.

You were right to ignore the feelings you had around Zuhr time about the exiting of Madhi (pre-seminal fluid).

A mere feeling is of no consequence in breaking your wudu if you are convinced that it didn’t happen.

Your wudu broke when you saw Madhi after Isha.

Thus all the prayers you have prayed before witnessing the Madhi were valid and you don’t have to repeat anything.

The reason for this ruling is that, according to the Hanafi school, new events (in this case, the breaking of your wudu) are attributed to the closest time possible. [Ibn Abidin, Manhal al-Waridin]

This legal principle is an application of another legal principle:

“Certainty is not lifted by a doubt.” [Majalla]

Which is in turn, based on the following verse of the Quran:

“Most of them follow nothing but conjectures. Surely, conjectures are of no avail in the matter of truth at all.” [Quran, 10:36]
