Does a Female Orgasm Experienced Without Intercourse Necessitate a Ritual Bath?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: If a female experiences an orgasm without her husband having penetrated her, does she need to perform a ritual bath? Also, if it is difficult to access water is it possible for ritual bath to be performed through tayamum alone?
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.
Yes, if a woman experiences sexual climax and has an orgasm, a ritual bath (ghusl) would be obligatory upon her.
However, if she is ill such that she cannot use water, or she has any other excuse which permits the dry ablution (tayammum), she could perform this in its place and pray.
Note that there is a difference between vaginal discharge, pre-sexual fluid, and the fluid which exits upon ejaculation.
