Do Clear or White Vaginal Discharges Invalidate Wudu?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: Assalam alaykum
Afterr menstruation, I experience the white discharge. However, sometimes, rather than finding actual discharge, I find a lot of water. Does this invalidate wudu?
Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
Both clear and white are deemed normal colours with respect to vaginal discharge.
Thereafter, and according to the position of Imam Abu Hanifa, such discharge is pure and it does not invalidate your ritual washing (wudu). This is because this discharge is considered akin to sweating.
However, it is more precautionary to renew your ritual washing, when it is reasonably [easily] facilitated for you to do so, in order to avoid the difference of opinion on the matter.
Note that other colours do invalidate your state of ritual purity, and the method of determining colours is to use a kursuf, namely, a piece of cotton or the like placed at the labial lips. [see: How Can I Judge When My Menstrual Period Has Ended?]
