Would a Career in Web Development Be Permissible?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: Assalam alaykum
Would a career in web development be permissible? Would my income be lawful?
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
Yes, working in web development is generally a permissible line of work. The basis is that if your job itself is permissible, the income you earn will be deemed lawful.
This remains the case even if your work will be used by those engaged in activities which contravene the Sacred Law. But given that this would be an indirect assistance in sin, praiseworthy scrupulousness would entail avoiding such work, if reasonably possible, when other avenues are available.
