Can I Wash My Feet by Immersing Them in a Bowl of Water for Wudu?

Question: Assalam ‘aleykum,

Is my wudu valid if I wash my feet by immersing them in a bowl of water? Is the water left in the bowl considered “used” after that?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Yes, if a person puts one of their limbs inside a pure and purifying body of water, and they are not in a state of ablution (wudu), the limb is considered to be washed— on condition that water reached the entire area.

As for the water becoming used, this only applies to the water which comes into contact with the limb itself, in order to lifts its state of ritual impurity, and it does not make the entire body of water “used.”
