Can I Skip Verses During the Recitation in Prayer?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: Assalam alaykum
Can I start from the beginning of the surah and intentionally jump to a different verse of the same surah during the recitation in prayer?
For example, I recite Al Baqara from “Alif Laam Meem” to “humul muflihun” then I jumped to the Throne verse.
Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
No, it is disliked (makruh) to jump to a different verse even within the same chapter (surah) without reason to do so. Consequently, you should have recited the first set of verses in the first cycle (rak‘at), and then the Throne Verse (ayat al-kursi) in the second cycle.
