Can a Fiancé Provide Financial Support Before Marriage?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
Is it permissible to accept monthly financial support from my fiancé, whose income is halal, while we are engaged and planning to marry soon?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
Yes. This is permissible and would be considered as charity from him. This is because he is not religiously obligated to financially support you until you two marry. [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]
Hope this helps
