Am I Allowed To Perform Wudu in a Mosque Even If I Might Waste Some of Its Water?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: Assalamualaikum
A scholar said that to use more than the necessary amount of a mosque’s water for wudu is Haraam.
This has made me depressed because I suffer from very persistent waswas which won’t never allow me to perform wudu without wasting water.
I can’t go home and do wudu because I am too far.
What should I do?
Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.
Waste is defined as usage beyond the extent of need or benefit.
You should perform the ablution (wudu) at the Mosque just like all the other Muslims do, without thinking about wasting water or not.
In general, don’t run the tap too high, strive to supplicate or make some remembrance during the wudu, and ask Allah for facilitation before you even begin.
