Should My Unmarried Daughter Get an IUD To Help Her Menstrual Problems?

My daughter is 21 years old. Her period is very heavy and painful. Her doctor suggested inserting a hormonal intrauterine device to help her problem. I’ve told her she can’t use this device because she’s a virgin. She responded by saying that IUDs don’t affect virginity. Please shed light on this matter.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern completely and I would fear the same for my daughter.
Other options
Have you tried homeopathy, TCM, or naturopathy? They are extremely effective and I have seen many difficult cases resolved through these alternative methods. Is your daughter exercising? Exercising is known to reduce the length and heaviness of one’s period. What about using birth control pills? Wouldn’t that help as a first step?
I know that IUDs are hormonal and nonhormonal and that both are used to prevent pregnancy. Which one would she take? Would the effects of preventing pregnancy be long-lasting, even after being removed? Did you know that menstrual cramps and irregular bleeding tend to get much better with marriage?

Nakedness
It is not permissible to uncover one’s nakedness, even to a doctor, unless there is a need. So you would really have to go through all of the options with her doctor and decide whether this is the very last and only resort that cannot be done without. If she did get the IUD, she would still be a virgin, because virginity is only removed by intercourse.
