Question

Is the Statement of Ali (Allah be pleased with him) of Marrying Without a Consenting Guardian (Wali) Valid?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

Yes, it is authentic; Shaybani narrates from Abd al-Rahman ibn Marwan that a woman married her daughter to a man with a guardian. This case was taken to Ali (Allah be pleased with him), and he allowed the marriage.
