I Am in Love With a Christian Man. What Should I Do?

I am a Muslim woman in love with a Christian man. I feel like I should tell him that if he wants to marry me, he must become Muslim. What do you think?

I pray this finds you well. May Allah reward you for reaching out to us.

Marriage

Dear sister, you are right. Please be clear on this – your marriage contract (nikah) is only valid to Muslim man.

Please make it clear to him that you can only marry him after he converts to Islam.

It takes more than love for a marriage to be successful. I suggest that you read Before You Tie the Knot: A Guide for Couples as a way to prepare yourself for marriage.

Prayer

Please perform the Prayer of Need and beg Allah to help you do what pleases Him.

Conversion

I suggest that the man you wish to marry study Introduction to Islam: What It Means to Be Muslim.

I pray that Allah guides him to Islam and blesses you with a strong and loving marriage which brings you both closer to Allah.
