How to not be Overwhelmed by my Fear of Unemployment?
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question: I can’t help it but think of long-term unemployment after graduating. Perhaps my degrees won’t be convincing to future employers. Yes, I network, I do internships…but right now I am just overthinking it all the time.
Please help me put my mind at ease and rely on Allah subhanahu wa ta’aala. I do not want to be unemployed.
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.
Take all reasonably possible means to secure future employment, yet whilst remembering that it is Allah who provides.
And that entails that you supplicate for a lawful income, and a means by which you can worship Allah. Pray the Prayer of Need (salat al-hajah) and work on becoming a better Muslim. The people of taqwa are always given a way out. [How Does One Perform The Prayer Of Need (salat al-haja)?]
