Does a Travelling Husband Have a Right to Ask for Explicit Photos of His Wife?

If a man travels frequently and is away from home for 2 or 3 months at a time, is it his right to ask for explicit material from his wife in the form of pictures and videos, and is she obligated to comply, even if she dislikes such and feels uncomfortable? When the husband is home and present, the wife has no issues fulfilling his desires but is she required to go to such lengths when he is away? Also, she has complied in the past, and he has ample material in his possession; yet, he continues to ask for more and more.

Thank you for your question. I empathize with your husband’s frustration, but he does not have the right to ask for this, as many scholars have deemed this type of media impermissible, even within marriage.

Islam is a religion of modesty. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Every religion has its distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty.” [Ibn Majah]
