Am I Sinful if Objects with Impure Clothes Later Touched the Quran?
Answered by Shaykh Irshaad Sedick
Question
As a child, I placed clothes stained with impurities on certain objects. If these objects later come into contact with the Quran or are used to store it, am I sinful? Should I clean them to prevent potential impurities?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
You are not sinful for placing impure clothes on objects as a child, as actions before reaching the age of responsibility (taklif) are not held accountable.
If the objects are clean now and there is no trace of impurity (visible, smell, or color), there is no need to clean them further, as impurities do not transfer unless physically present. However, if you are certain of impurities remaining, clean them if possible. Proceed with a clear conscience and focus on maintaining cleanliness going forward. Beware of waswasa and pray to Allah for guidance.
