Am I Sinful for Seeing a Woman Improperly Clothed in an Advertisement?
Answered by Yusuf Weltch
Question
Will I be sinful if I saw a woman in short clothes on YouTube or other websites by mistake because, in ads, u have to wait 3 sec to skip the ads? My two questions are in traveling videos. In the background, there are women walking in short clothes, so if u have a look at them, will I be sinful?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
If one does not intentionally look at the impermissible parts of women’s bodies, nor looks at any part of their bodies with lust-one is permitted to see the women in ads. [‘Ala’ al-Din ‘Abidin, al-Hadiyya al-‘Ala’iyya]
If one accidentally sees something impermissible and immediately redirects their gaze, they are not accountable for the initial glance. [Ibid.]
Note that peripheral vision does not count as looking.
