Is There Any Point in Women Striving for Paradise?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
Can you motivate me to do good deeds? I want to improve my relationship with Allah Most High to attain a high level of Paradise. But then I get very unmotivated because it feels pointless. After all, it feels like no matter what level of paradise a woman has, she does not get what she desires and will never be able to enjoy all types of bliss like men.
I wish for my husband to love me more than anyone in Paradise and see me as the best woman, but it feels that this won’t happen. Will this happen? Isn’t this punishing women in Paradise even though the whole point of paradise is to reward people by giving them what they desire?
Answer
Thank you for your question. Women will have what they desire in Paradise in eternal bliss, and they will not be punished, or be angry, or grieve there. Women of this world will be superior to the maidens of Paradise by the grace of Allah Most High.
Motivation
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “When the dwellers of Paradise enter Paradise, an announcer will call: (You have a promise from Allah that) you will live therein and you will never die; you will stay healthy therein, and you will never fall ill; you will stay young, and you will never become old; you will be under a constant bliss, and you will never feel miserable.” [Muslim]
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “(There will be) two Paradises of silver and all the utensils and whatever is therein (will be of silver); and two Paradises of gold, and its utensils and whatever therein (will be of gold), and there will be nothing to prevent the people from seeing their Lord except the Cover of Majesty over His Face in the Paradise of Eden (eternal bliss).” [Bukhari]
The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) recited: “‘And warn them of a Day of griefs and regrets” [Quran, 19:39], and he said: ‘Death will be brought as if it is a mixed black and white ram until it is halted upon the barrier between Paradise and the Fire.’ It will be said: ‘O people of Paradise! They will raise their necks to look.’ It will be said: ‘O people of the Fire! And they will raise their necks to look. It will be said: ‘Do you recognize this?’ They will say: ‘Yes. This is death.’ Then it will be laid down and slaughtered. If it were not that Allah had decreed that the inhabitants of Paradise would remain, then they would die of joy, and if it were not that Allah had decreed that the inhabitants of the Fire would remain, then they would die of grief.’” [Tirmidhi]
