Can I Be White in Paradise Instead of Black?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
I really hope there is no race in heaven because if I get there, I hope I won’t be black again. I don’t want to be black. In Paradise, we get whatever the soul could ever desire, so of course, I would want all my good and honorable desires to come true. As we know, we will only want good since we will be cleansed from impurities. I want to be beautiful in Paradise. I don’t want to look like this. I want to be beautiful beyond my imagination and be happy. I hope in Paradise that all my desires will be fulfilled and there will be no race there.
Answer
Allah Most High said in the Quran, “And those who believe and do good, We will soon admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there forever and ever. Allah’s promise is ˹always˺ true. And whose word is more truthful than Allah’s? ˹Divine grace is˺ neither by your wishes nor those of the People of the Book! Whoever commits evil will be rewarded accordingly, and they will find no protector or helper besides Allah. But those who do good—whether male or female—and have faith will enter Paradise and will never be wronged ˹even as much as˺ the speck on a date stone.” [Quran, 4:122-124]
