Is There Any Benefit in Watching Lectures That Are Not Offered by SeekersGuidance?
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
Is there any benefit in watching lectures that SeekersGuidance does not offer?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
Although SeekersGuidance has made a plethora of beneficial content available for Muslims around the world, there are other initiatives, organizations, and other scholars who have content that is also beneficial.
The most important consideration is the person giving the lecture. One must ensure their knowledge and understanding were taken directly from a qualified and authorized scholarship. Eloquence and charisma do not equal sound knowledge or understanding of the religion.
There are many lectures available online that are very beneficial. However, there is also much content that seems beneficial but has caused many people to misunderstand crucial parts of our religion and our relationship with Allah Most High and His Messenger (may Allah bless him and give him peace).
I would consult local scholars whom one trusts and find them to be implementing the dictates of the Prophetic guidance regarding specific orators and lectures.
Hope this helps
Allah knows best
