Can I Pay Monthly Fees For a Service?
Question: Assalamu ‘alaykum., In the Hanafi Madhab, are you allowed to pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to something, for example, paying a fixed monthly fee for unlimited internet data for your home wi-fi or paying a fixed monthly fee for a travel card for unlimited use of public transport?
Answer:
Wa ‘alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.
I pray you are well.
Yes, this is permissible. You would be hiring that service. Hiring is paying to enjoy the benefits of something without owning it. [Maydani, al-Lubab]
May Allah bless you with the best of both worlds.
