How Can I Apologize to an Online Friend Who Blocked Me?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
What if there were two people that used to talk together online and then one of them blocked the other and stopped talking to him\her for no reason? Is this considered a betrayal? And what if they tried to search for them and they couldn’t find them to apologize, how can they repent?
Answer
Thank you for your question. If one has stopped talking to the other for no reason, this can be very painful, and there is not much that one can do about it. Why would one need to apologize if they stopped talking to them for no reason?
Apology
In any case, if one did do something wrong, one should ask Allah Most High for forgiveness for one’s bad behavior toward another and make dua that one is given the chance to properly apologize to that person. Until then, keep waiting, improve your behavior, pick friends of the same gender that inspire you intellectually and religiously, and don’t repeat the same mistake.
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “The believer who mixes with people and bears their annoyance with patience will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people and does not put up with their annoyance.” [Ibn Majah]
