Are McDonald’s Fries Halal in The US?

Question

Are McDonald’s fries halal in the US?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

The beef flavoring is derived from hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk – this does not involve any actual beef, therefore, if the fries are fried separately using any type of vegetable oil, and separate frying and serving utensils are used with no possible cross-contamination, then they would be permissible.

One should always remember when eating out to reach out to local reliable Muftis and Scholars and consult the official website for the most up-to-date information on ingredients.

Everyone is Responsible to Make Correct Choices

Also, there are many issues these days with ingredients, food contamination, and supporting fast-food franchises while other generic unbranded shops suffer. Everyone is responsible for making correct choices, and none of this is lost on Allah. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and give him peace, said, “Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better”

[Musnad of Ahmad].
