Why Does Allah Not Accept My Duas to Stop My Porn Addiction?
Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam
Question
I can’t stop watching pornography. I’ve asked Allah to guide me but I am not changing.
Doesn’t Allah answer a supplication right away when it is about asking for guidance or leaving sins?
Answer
I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, inshaAllah.
A supplication is answered in one of three ways, as the Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) explained,
- by getting what one asked for,
- by the warding off of harm that would have afflicted one, or
- by being stored up in the Hereafter as a tremendous reward.
You should continue to supplicate, from the bottom of your heart, and whilst remaining convinced that Allah will respond to your supplication. With that, you should take every means to get off the internet and lower your gaze. This is the mark of trueness: leaving something for the sake of Allah. When there is taqwa, there is an opening.
Allah Most High says, “And whoever is mindful of Allah, He will grant them a way out, and will provide for them in ways unimagined. And whoever places their trust in Allah, then Allah is their sufficiency. Allah’s affair will surely come to pass–and Allah has made a clear decree for everything.” [Quran, 65:2-3]
