What Supplication Did the Prophet ﷺ Make Most?
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
What supplication (dua) did the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) make most?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
May Allah bless you for inquiring about His most beloved.
There are numerous narrations of the supplications of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace). He would constantly pray to Allah for various things at various times and circumstances.
Below I have gathered a few of the essential supplications (dua) that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) made and encouraged us to make.
Ibn Suhaib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, Qatada once asked Anas (Allah bless them both) which supplication did the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) make most? He said the supplication that the Messenger of Allah made most was:
اللهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“O Allah! Give us, in the world, goodness and in the Hereafter, goodness and save us from the punishment of the fire.” [Bukhari]
Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates saying, “The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace) took me by the hand and said, ‘I love you! O’ Mu’adh’ So I said, ‘I love you! O’ Messenger of Allah’ So the Messenger of Allah said, “Then do not abandon saying after every prayer:
رَبِّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O’ my Lord, help me in remembering you, show gratitude to you, and worship you in a beautiful manner.” [Nasa’i]
3) Anas bin Malik (may Allah bless him) narrated saying, The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace), would abundantly say:
اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ
“O’ Allah make my heart firm on your religion.”
So a man said, “O’ Messenger of Allah do you fear for us when we have faith in you and believed in what you’ve brought.” So He said, “The hearts are between the two fingers of the fingers of the Most Merciful (Exalted and Majestic is He) He flips them as He wills.” [Ibn Majah]
Hope this helps
May Allah bless you and us with the best of both worlds
Allah knows best
