What Can My Mother Recite To Make My Father Listen to Her?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
My parents have been married for many years and now they are getting older. But even today their views are not the same, they always quarrel. My father does not listen to my mother. My dad never asks my mom when it comes to making decisions. This situation always hurts my mother.
What can my mother do to improve this? Is there any specific prayer that my mother can read for this?
Answer
Thank you for your question. There is no particular supplication for your mother’s need, but the doors of supplication are always open.
Dua of the Oppressed
Your mother can and should ask Allah, especially if she is a victim. Allah will always hear her supplications as the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) told us, “There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.’” [Tirmidhi]

In addition, she may pray the Prayer of Need, and supplicate during auspicious times when supplication is answered, such as before dawn.
