Can You Give Me a Supplication So My Daughter Stops Fornicating?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
My young daughter is having haram relations She won’t listen to me.
Is there any Quranic dua that I can pray so relations break?
Answer
Thank you for your question. I empathize with your frustration and stress but I encourage you to respond with action and not just words.
Where You Stand
It’s important that you tell her where you stand and that her behaviour is not acceptable. I would go as far as not allowing her to live under your roof because of her disobedience to Allah. You should also refuse to see her boyfriend as he is nothing to you. Once she understands where you stand, you should still be a strong Muslim figure in her life and she should remember God when they see you. Try to get close to her, spend time with her, bond with her, pray with her, and don’t advise her every day. Eventually, by the grace of Allah, the bad will diminish.
Supplications
Try these supplications for your difficulties:
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
“My Lord! Make me and those ˹believers˺ of my descendants keep up prayer. Our Lord! Accept my prayers.” [Quran, 14:40]
“Our Lord! Bless us with ˹pious˺ spouses and offspring who will be the joy of our hearts, and make us models for the righteous.” [Quran, 25:74]
“Our Lord! Make us both ˹fully˺ submit to You and from our descendants a nation that will submit to you. Show us our rituals, and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.” [Quran, 2:128]

Tribulation
This tribulation is very difficult and I encourage you to see it for what it is. Allah is testing you, and He wants you to react correctly, to deepen your understanding of the strong corrupt influences around your daughter, to understand His mercy, the importance of tawba, and to never despair. Turn to Allah in every problem, resolve to do the best you can with the tools you have, and maintain uprightness in your own life.
Allah’s Messenger, (Allah bless him and give him peace), said, “The example of a believer is that of a fresh green plant the leaves of which move in whatever direction the wind forces them to move and when the wind becomes still, it stand straight. Such is the similitude of the believer: He is disturbed by calamities (but is like the fresh plant he regains his normal state soon). And the example of a disbeliever is that of a pine tree (which remains) hard and straight till Allah cuts it down when He will.” [Bukhari]
May Allah give you the best of this world and the next.
