Is the Quran Inscribed In The Preserved Tablet?
Answered by Ustadh Farid Dingle
Question
How can we reconcile verse 85:22 which states that the Quran is in the Preserved Tablet (al Lawh al Mahfudh) with verse 56:78 which states that it is in a book?
Answer
Thank you for your important question.
According to many scholars, the Preserved Tablet (al Lawh al Mahfudh) referred to in the the Qur’an verse 85:22 is the self same “book” referred to in verse 56:78. (Jami Ahkam al Qur’an, Qurtubi)
Others have said that the “book” in 56:78 is the mushaf. (Jami Ahkam al Qur’an, Qurtubi; Tafsir al Jalalayn, Mahalli and Suyuti)
I pray this helps.
