Is tobacco impure?
Answer
I pray you are well.
No, tobacco is not impure, as it is not listed as an impurity in any of the legal works. Its consumption, however, in any form, has been proven to be harmful, so it is impermissible to do so.
Smoking also causes a terrible stench, and it would be sinful to enter a mosque after smoking, as is the case with other foods that cause bad odors, such as garlic. (Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar).
