Am I Required to Wash My Rectum Merely Due to the Rectum Swelling and Sticking Out?
Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch
Question
I have a problem and I dont know how to deal with it. When I wash myself I notice these lumps coming out of my rectum and going back in. I don’t know if this is normal but does it need to be washed everytime I do wudu? Because it is the inside of my rectum that just comes out and I dont know if it has feces on it but I assume it does. Do I have to check everytime I do wudu if there is feces? I did that for a while and there wasnt really anything? It is not like there is feces coming out or anything but the inside of my rectum swells and sticks out and I dont know if it causes feces to spread around. So my question is can I just wash myself after defecating and thats it or do I have to check everytime for feces.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
No. You are not required to wash your rectum except after you actually pass stool. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]
Aside from this, there is no requirement, nor is it a good practice to look at your rectum to check for impurities. Assume there is no impurity unless you defecate.
