Should I Repeat my Prayers if I Secreted Wady?

Shafi'i Fiqh

Answered by Shaykh Irshaad Sedick

Question

Most of the time I have doubts about whether I release water-like liquid (not sperm, so I think it’s madhy from what I found on the internet) when reciting or praying or even just waiting while doing nothing. There is water, like a tiny dot in my underwear when I check after reciting or praying. What should I do?

Is my prayer or recitation accepted, or should I pray again and start reciting from the beginning?

Till now, I have been bathing(ghusl) every time this happens, and sometimes after ghusl also, when I check my penis, there is a gum-like liquid in my penis, so I ghusl again. Please let me know what I should do.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate. May Allah alleviate our difficulties and guide us to that which is pleasing to Him. Amin.

If this genuinely occurs, it is called wady and does break one’s ablution, but does not require a ghusl.

Your specific case appears to be a regular occurrence, and therefore, waswasa should categorically be ignored, and you should not re-pray, reperform ablution, or perform a ghusl, and Allah knows best.

Satanic Whispers–Waswasa

What you described is called waswasa, also called OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder).  The specific type of waswasa is called religious scrupulosity. Waswasa is one means the devil uses to misguide people and distract them from Allah by casting doubts and whispers (waswasa) into their hearts. You should categorically ignore these, and Allah knows best.

We strongly advise you to oppose the devil by simply ignoring these distractions. If you do not follow through with this, you will find more and more doubts until your life becomes unbearable, Allah forbid.

Seeking a Fiqh ruling will not assist you in your problem as it is not a Fiqh problem but a spiritual cum psychological one. The only rule you should be concerned with is categorically ignoring doubts and proceeding as though they never happened.
